The "Nagy Imre"
Gallery
The
"Nagy Imre" permanent Gallery, situated on
1 Koteles Samuel Street, was reopened in 2001. Initially,
it was housed by the "Teleki" library, between
1959-1986.
Those who would like to
enrich themselves with authentic spiritual values may
visit this gallery, an artistic universe evocative of
inner energies.
Nagy Imre's personality
was influenced by an unusual experience. The fact that
he spent his life in Jigodin, a village located somewhere
near Harghita, made him aware of the picturesqueness
of those places, interwoven with the social realities.
All these facts would be transposed in his vast creation,
in an original way.
As a result of him handling
well different technical methods (the skill of painting
in water colours, that of painting in oil, or in tempera),
Nagy Imre was capable of catching unawares and of perpetuating
the riches of light and colour found in the Cicului
Depression. Sensing the spade remarkably, he transposed
the elements of nature either into harmonizations full
of lyrical vibrations, or into rhythmical cadences,
indicating, thus, a grandeur full of life. The human
beings are transposed in an always fresh and full of
life nature, being surrounded by the murmur of the water,
the gentle breeze of the wind, the reflexes of the plants,
the callings of the cosmical infinity. There is nothing
magnificent related to these, and still, there is something
very profound and close to our souls.
With a strong pantheistical
feeling, Nagy Imre influenced the belief in the positive
aspects of life, something defining for a creator with
a strong love for beauty, truth and essence.
The self-portraits (which create a separate cycle) reveal
the intransigency character, the vigour of his character
and the clearness of his thought, through the firmness
of the drawing and the tension of the colours.
